The explosive and flammable gases such as methane collected in the wastes at the uncontrolled hazardous disposal areas are significant threats for natural life and environment. By constructing gas collection funnels of 0,8-1,2 meters of diameter with 40 meters of gap in sanitary landfills, the gases which have formed are collected in controlled manner. The waste gases accumulated in the collected waste are burnt in gas engines, they can be converted into energy or be used for heating by being collected in gas engine. The period of time where the gases are most intense in storage areas is the first 5 to 15 years subsequent to the completion of the collecting. Out of 1 million ton of solid wastes, approximately 1 megawatt/hour electricity may be generated.
